Quick Installation Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Wall
-
Surface Preparation is Critical
-
Make sure the surface is clean, dry, smooth, and free from dust or peeling paint.
-
Fill any holes and allow the wall to dry completely before installation.
Step 2: Mark Your Heights
-
Create Your Reference Lines
Using a tape measure and level:
• Mark the height for the skirting board.
• Mark the full height of the finished panelling.
• Mark the position of the dado rail.
Create a level horizontal line where the top of the panelling will sit.
Step 3: Install the Skirting Board
-
Installation Order Matters:
-
Apply strong construction adhesive to the back of the skirting board in vertical beads.
-
Press it firmly to the bottom of the wall and check with a level.
Optional: add a few pins for extra hold on uneven walls.
Step 4: Prepare the FlexiBoard™ Panels
-
Revolutionary Fold-Flat Design
Your wall panels arrive fold-flat. Simply unfold each panel and ensure the edges are straight.
No tools are required for unfolding.
Step 5: Fix the First Panel
-
Starting Right is Essential
-
Apply adhesive to the back of the first FlexiBoard™ panel.
-
Place it directly above the skirting board, aligning with your level line.
-
Press firmly so the adhesive bonds securely to the wall.
Step 6: Attach Panels Using the Overlap System
-
The Clever Overlap Joint System
Each FlexiBoard™ panel is designed to overlap the previous one, creating clean vertical joins without gaps.
-
Slide the next panel into place so it overlaps the edge of the installed board.
-
Press firmly to secure.
-
Continue this process across the wall. (No nails, screws, or special tools required unless the wall is very uneven.)
Step 7: Trim the Final Panel if Needed
-
Achieving the Perfect Fit
If the last section needs trimming, cut it with a fine-toothed saw or power tool. Always test-cut a small offcut first.
Step 8: Install the Dado Rail
-
Capping Your Beautiful Panelling
-
Apply adhesive along the back of the dado rail.
-
Place it neatly along the top line so it caps the panelling.
-
Press firmly and level it.
Step 8a: Install the Capping Rail
-
The Finishing Touch for a Polished Look
If your set includes a capping rail, fit it directly above the dado rail. Apply construction adhesive along the back of the rail, then press it firmly onto the wall so it neatly caps the top edge of the panels. Use a spirit level to ensure the rail is perfectly straight before the adhesive begins to set.
Step 9: Seal and Perfect the Finish
-
The Details Make the Difference
Run caulk along edges, corners, and joins for a polished look. Fill any small gaps and smooth the caulk.
Step 10: Painting and Finishing
-
Factory-Painted Sets
If your set arrives pre-painted, no additional painting is required. However, you may wish to carry out light final touch-ups after installation. Use a small brush together with the included 15 ml sample bottle of your colour to cover any visible joints, caulked areas, or minor marks.
If you selected a custom colour, your kit will include:
• a 30 ml bottle of your chosen colour, and
• a 15 ml bottle of hardener (catalyst).
Mix the colour and hardener only when ready to apply.
After mixing, the coating must be used within 30 minutes, as it will begin to thicken and change consistency once activated.
