We recommend installing the panels only in dry areas with low humidity and no direct exposure to water.
For spaces with higher moisture levels or potential water contact, opt for our Bathroom-Friendly Finish. For an additional £15 per metre, we apply a durable protective coating that makes the wall panelling suitable for bathrooms and other moisture-prone environments.
Panels should not be installed directly behind, above, or too close to heat sources such as cookers, fireplaces, or stoves. Prolonged or intense heat may cause damage or reduce the lifespan of the panels.
You can install them nearby, but only if they remain outside the manufacturer’s recommended safety clearance for that appliance. Always check the specific heat-distance guidelines before installation.
Yes, wall panels can generally be fitted around or behind radiators, as the heat they produce is not usually intense enough to damage the panels.
However, ensure that the panels are not in direct contact with the radiator and that there is adequate airflow. If your radiator produces unusually high heat, always check the manufacturer’s guidelines or consult your installer before fitting the panels.
You can cut the panels using a fine-toothed hand saw or appropriate power tools. When working with power tools, make sure to choose the correct blade to achieve a clean and precise edge. If possible, we recommend making a test cut beforehand.
Wall panels can be used in a wide variety of interior spaces, including living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, offices, and commercial environments. They are ideal for adding texture, warmth, and visual interest to feature walls or entire rooms.
Panels can also be used in kitchens, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone areas when paired with an appropriate protective finish. Always ensure the chosen panel type is suitable for the specific conditions of your space.
1. Prepare the Surface Ensure the wall is clean, dry, smooth, and free from dust or loose paint. Fill any holes and allow the surface to dry completely.
2. Measure & Plan Your Layout Measure the area you’re panelling and decide on your starting point. Mark a level reference line to ensure the panels sit straight from the first board onward.
3. Fold & Position the First Board FlexiBoard™ panels arrive flat. Simply unfold the panel and place it against the wall. Apply a strong construction adhesive to the back in vertical beads.
4. Fix the First Panel Press the panel firmly onto the wall, ensuring it aligns with your level line. Hold briefly to secure contact with the adhesive.
5. Add the Next Panel Using the Overlap System Each FlexiBoard™ is designed to overlap the previous one. Slide the next board into place so it locks neatly over the edge of the first panel, creating a seamless join without gaps.
6. Continue Across the Wall Work your way along the wall, overlapping each panel as you go. No nails, screws, or tools are required unless the wall is uneven.
7. Adjust or Trim if Needed If trimming is required at the end of a run, use a fine-toothed saw or suitable power tool. Always test-cut first.
8. Finish the Edges Use trims, corner pieces, or a small bead of sealant for a crisp, professional finish.
9. Allow Adhesive to Cure Let the adhesive dry fully according to the manufacturer’s instructions before painting, cleaning, or decorating around the panels.
1. Prepare the Wall
Make sure the surface is clean, dry, smooth, and free from dust or peeling paint. Fill any holes and allow the wall to dry completely before installation.
2. Mark Your Heights
Using a tape measure and level: • Mark the height for the skirting board. • Mark the full height of the finished panelling. • Mark the position of the dado rail.
Create a level horizontal line where the top of the panelling will sit.
3. Install the Skirting Board
Apply strong construction adhesive to the back of the skirting board in vertical beads. Press it firmly to the bottom of the wall and check with a level. Optional: add a few pins for extra hold on uneven walls.
4. Prepare the FlexiBoard™ Panels
Your wall panels arrive fold-flat. Simply unfold each panel and ensure the edges are straight. No tools are required for unfolding.
5. Fix the First Panel
Apply adhesive to the back of the first FlexiBoard™ panel. Place it directly above the skirting board, aligning with your level line. Press firmly so the adhesive bonds securely to the wall.
6. Attach Panels Using the Overlap System
Each FlexiBoard™ panel is designed to overlap the previous one, creating clean vertical joins without gaps. Slide the next panel into place so it overlaps the edge of the installed board. Press firmly to secure. Continue this process across the wall.
(No nails, screws, or special tools required unless the wall is very uneven.)
7. Trim the Final Panel if Needed
If the last section needs trimming, cut it with a fine-toothed saw or power tool. Always test-cut a small offcut first.
8. Install the Dado Rail
Apply adhesive along the back of the dado rail. Place it neatly along the top line so it caps the panelling. Press firmly and level it.
8a. Install the Capping Rail
If your set includes a capping rail, fit it directly above the dado rail. Apply construction adhesive along the back of the rail, then press it firmly onto the wall so it neatly caps the top edge of the panels. Use a spirit level to ensure the rail is perfectly straight before the adhesive begins to set.
9. Seal & Perfect the Finish
Run caulk along edges, corners, and joins for a polished look. Fill any small gaps and smooth the caulk.
10. Painting & Finishing (for Primed or Custom-Colour Sets)
If your set arrives pre-painted, no additional painting is required. However, you may wish to carry out light final touch-ups after installation. Use a small brush together with the included 15 ml sample bottle of your colour to cover any visible joints, caulked areas, or minor marks.
If you selected a custom colour, your kit will include: • a 30 ml bottle of your chosen colour, and • a 15 ml bottle of hardener (catalyst).
Mix the colour and hardener only when ready to apply. After mixing, the coating must be used within 30 minutes, as it will begin to thicken and change consistency once activated.
Yes! While our panels come beautifully pre-painted, you can repaint them to match any colour scheme. Light sanding and a quality primer will ensure excellent paint adhesion.
Estimated Installation Time: 2 to 4 hours (3 meters of wall panelling set)
This is the estimated "hands-on" time for a DIYer with average skills. This does not include drying times for wall filler or adhesive.
Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how that time is spent:
Time Breakdown for a 3-Meter Wall
1. Preparation Phase (30 - 60 minutes)
Steps 1 & 2 (Prepare the Wall & Mark Heights): This is the most critical phase and shouldn't be rushed.
Cleaning the wall: 5-10 minutes.
Marking level lines for the skirting, top of the panels, and dado rail: 20-40 minutes. Taking time here to get the lines perfectly level with a spirit level is essential and saves major headaches later.
(Note: This does not include time for filling and drying large holes in the wall, which could take several hours or overnight.)
2. Main Installation Phase (1 - 1.5 hours)
Steps 3-8 (Install Skirting, Panels, and Rails): This is where the FlexiBoard™ system's design speeds things up significantly.
Skirting Board (Step 3): Applying adhesive and fixing the 3-meter length of skirting: 10-15 minutes.
Unfolding & Fixing Panels (Steps 4-6): This is the fastest part. Unfolding is instant. Applying adhesive and pressing each panel into place using the overlap system is very efficient. For a 3-meter wall, this might involve 5-6 panels and should take around 30-45 minutes.
Trimming the Final Panel (Step 7): This can add time. Measuring, marking, and carefully cutting the last panel to fit: 10-15 minutes.
Installing Dado & Capping Rails (Steps 8 & 8a): Applying adhesive and fitting the top rails across the 3-meter length: 15-20 minutes.
3. Finishing Phase (30 - 60 minutes)
Steps 9 & 10 (Seal & Paint): This final stage is what gives the project a professional look.
Caulking (Step 9): Applying a neat bead of caulk along all the joins, corners, and edges: 20-30 minutes.
Painting & Touch-ups (Step 10): Mixing the custom colour with the hardener and carefully touching up the caulked areas and any minor marks: 15-30 minutes. The 30-minute working time for the mixed paint means this step must be done efficiently.
Factors That Can Affect the Time
Wall Condition: A perfectly smooth, level wall will be much faster. A very uneven wall that requires more adhesive or extra pinning will slow things down.
DIY Experience: A first-timer might take closer to the 4-hour mark, while an experienced DIYer could complete it in under 2 hours.
Obstacles: Walls with multiple plug sockets, light switches, or corners will require more cutting and add significant time. The 2-4 hour estimate is for a simple, straight wall.
Minor imperfections are fine—the adhesive will fill small gaps. For significantly uneven walls, consider installing timber battens first to create a level surface.
While our MDF panels can handle normal household humidity, we don't recommend installation in areas with direct water exposure (e.g., shower walls). They're suitable for bathrooms with good ventilation, away from direct water contact.
While designed for permanent installation, panels can be carefully removed with a flat pry bar. However, this may damage the panel or wall surface, so plan your layout carefully.
Measure your wall area in square metres (height × width). Each kit covers 1m². Add 10% extra for cuts and wastage.
